What can our client offer you?

This position could give you the opportunity to:

  • Pivot into a technical advisory/client side esque role
  • Work directly with end clients within government sectors
  • Get diversity in your day to day and get away from the desk – no 2 days will be the same.
  • See projects through from start to finish
  • Become an owner in the business at an early stage of their inception they are planning on tripling their Sydney office in the next 12 months!
  • Transition into a leadership role in the future - no pressure if this isn’t for you!

Who would you be working with?

Our client is a young and ambitious consultancy practice with a team of 15 consultancies, all coming from various backgrounds in design engineering, contracting, commissioning and technology. Rather than been a ‘design house’, they prefer to get in and represent the clients on project, using their technical knowledge and experience on live projects to get the best result for their client’s asset or project.

Their current project portfolio is a mix of new build and upgrade projects (40/60%) and includes specialist medical facilities, laboratories, health centres, commercial buildings, and stadia.

What would your typical day look like?

Day to day you’ll be representing the client (mainly government entities) on projects, advocating them from initial planning and developing of scope, right through to construction, with a typical role including:

  • Project briefing
  • Due diligence
  • Compliance and design review
  • Commissioning overview
  • Defect review and maintenance
  • Building services management and superintendents
  • Maintenance assessment

What kind of candidate are they looking for?

They are looking for an intermediate or senior mechanical engineer from either a consultancy or contractor background that wants to get from behind their desk and be a driving force on projects. Ideally you’ll have experience throughout the design and construction lifecycle, and be ready to apply that to live projects.

Typically, they’d prefer somebody that has exposure to projects within medical or scientific sectors, but this isn’t a deal breaker – neither is local experience.
